What is Ionisation?
Ionisation refers to the process of maintaining water quality by the electrolysis of pure copper, or copper and silver alloys. The selection of these metals is based upon the algaecidal properties of copper and the bactericidal properties of silver. When produced in an ionised form by electrolysis, the result is a cost effective, environmentally friendly and low maintenance solution to the water quality of swimming pools, spas and water features.
For ionisation to be effective the system should have a well-maintained pumping system and somebody (pool owner or service provider) must take responsibility for the water chemistry, adjusting as required.
With pool owners’ ever-growing awareness of the need to avoid heavy use of chemicals and find "greener" solutions for purifying water, ionisation is an effective and cost competitive answer.
